Understanding Learning & Teaching Beliefs -Nadine Binder
The impact of culture: Research & strategies
Culture influences different expectations and preferences in our classrooms, departmental offices and leadership forums — often in ways that are so ingrained, we do not realize their presence or impact.
In this course, Dr. Nadine Binder will share recent research from a cross-cultural psychology lens that examines the relationships between cultural orientations and expectations, particularly in formal learning environments but also with applicability to corporate and other settings.
Using case studies, the faculty member will also offer five practical strategies for participants to use in their own workplaces/classrooms/organizations and/or (for trainers) work with clients.
Join this course to understand the science behind culture and learning/teaching and explore 5 practical strategies to use in your own interactions in educational and other learning settings.
From the words we use to the “hidden” expectations we often don’t realize we hold, culture is embedded in our learning and teaching beliefs. How can we hold ourselves (and help those we work with) to a practical standard of inclusion? This course helps answer these questions so you can adjust your own practices accordingly.
