Institute for Developing Across Differences

Faces of the IDD

Reflecting the wide diversity of professionals who make up the IDD’s Global Community, we regularly invite members to share how they contribute to and experience their work in the greater Differences field:

Dr. Elif Durgel, experienced intercultural trainer at the Teacher Development Center and independent coach in The Netherlands

Mohit Kanade, senior consultant at Cognizant, a multinational IT services and consulting company, and university lecturer in Germany

Dr. Sherwood Smith, Senior Executive Director for Inclusive Excellence & Faculty Engagement at University of Vermont and CQ Strategies in the US

Ana Carolina Cassiano, Brazil-based facilitator and learning designer who heads education development at AFS Intercultural Programs

Community of Practice Wrap Up: End of year reflections

Each IDD Global Community of Practice gathering has a broader theme to focus our conversation. After a brief introduction, we engage in community dialogues in small groups and in plenary to share knowledge, experiences, perspectives, and insights around the broader theme. We capture our main insights and resources to be shared with the greater community after each Global Community of Practice gathering.

*Topics are subject to change to reflect the Community’s interests throughout the year.

WHY JOIN?

Our Global Community of Practice provides a space for dialogue, reflection, and discussion so that we can collectively and individually improve our impact, “nerd out” together, and expand the field.

Connect with colleagues from around the world —most with 10+ years in the field (but all are welcome)—from across the greater Differences realm (such as intercultural communication, DEI, global learning, global competence), different professional backgrounds, and sectors.

We meet to discuss and share ideas, practices, scholarship, and experiences in an informal, noncommercial setting.

MORE INFORMATION

To accommodate our Global Peers in different time zones, we alternate the time of our sessions.

We also share a summary of insights and resources from each session with the entire Global Community of Practice via our mailing list.

Each session offers some opening thoughts on the respective topic, followed by self-facilitated discussions in breakout rooms and in plenary.  While you are welcome to share what you have been working on and connect with others for collaboration, please do not use this as a platform to showcase or sell your services.

If you’d like to suggest a topic for a future Global Community of Practice session, please use the “comment” section in the sign up form below or contact IDD host Dr. Nadine Binder
