ABOUT OUR FEATURED FACULTY

Dr. Nagesh Rao uses intercultural competence, cultural humility, storytelling and intercultural listening to develop leaders in healthcare/medicine, education and business. In Nagesh’s three+ decades of teaching, consulting and training, he has worked with clients in Fortune 500 corporations, top medical schools and hospitals, educational institutions, and community-based non-profit organizations in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas.

In 2017, Dr. Rao was named special advisor on inclusion and faculty affairs and invited to design and implement Ohio University (US) Medical School’s Office of Inclusion. He has visiting lecturer appointments at numerous universities including the University of Groningen (Netherlands).

Dr. Nadine Binder is a psychologist, certified professional Co-Active coach (CPCC), trainer, university lecturer, and consultant who supports individuals, teams, and organizations in their development, providing them with proven tools and techniques to help them realize their full potential and connect deeply and meaningfully with others. She specializes in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, intercultural communication and global leadership, personal leadership, and mental health awareness.

Additionally, Nadine publishes research on topics such as the intersections between intercultural competence and DEI, intercultural and global competence development and assessment, as well as global leadership. 

Sherifa M.B.E. Fayez is a talented trainer and leader who has been heading Egypt’s longest-running nonprofit dedicated to intercultural and global learning for youth and adults  — AFS Intercultural Programmes Egypt — since 2004. As an educator, Sherifa aims to challenge the pervasive reductionist perspectives on the Middle East and promote active global citizenship as a practice in everyday settings.

In addition to her appointment to the IDD, Sherifa has been on faculty at the Summer Institute for Intercultural Communications (US) and InterCultur’s Intercultural Trainer Academy (Germany). Sherifa has directed initiatives throughout the Middle East, Africa, and Europe with partners such as USAID and American University in Cairo. She has also served on the AFS Global Board of Trustees and other international education task forces and committees.
