PROFESSIONAL GROWTH & MORE

The IDD is premised on the proposition that we can improve our larger impact by understanding where there are (and are not) intersections among four key areas of study and practice in the differences field: —intercultural communication, global learning, anti-discrimination/diversity & inclusion, and global competence— then borrowing from and expanding on them.

The IDD’s inaugural edition of the Developing Across Differences (DAD) Learning Lab and Community Week took place in The Netherlands in June 2022 to support Europe-based practitioners and scholars learn from and with one another within and across the four narratives to increase their effectiveness and impact with their clients and learners.

Since that time, we have continued this programming annually in Europe and bi-annually in the Middle East. We look forward to expanding activities in other regions in the near future.

About the programme

How much experience do I need to have to attend DAD courses?

While most of our participants have at least 5 (and often 15+) years of experience, each course has a participant profile as determined together with the faculty member(s).

We understand that your circumstances are unique, and if you have questions as to whether you meet the course qualifications, we’re happy to discuss these with you. Email us at info@iddifferences.org with your questions or to schedule a brief advisory session.

Although all of our courses offer advanced-level content, we’re also pleased to offer several that have been designed to also include aspiring professionals or those who may be newer to the field.

What is the schedule for the week?

Enrolment is capped at 10-20 places depending on the course.

What kind of certificate do I receive after completing a course?

You will be given a Certificate of Participation from the University and the Institute listing the number of learning contact hours for each course you complete.

(Note that 28 hours correspond to 1 ECTS.)

LABS: CREATE CONTENT

Learn through active experimentation and application

Whether you join us for one day or all six of the DAD, you are invited to take part in multiple “laboratory experiments” in which relevant real-life challenges and critical incidents are interrogated from multiple perspectives.

Together with our faculty and peers, you have the opportunity to contribute insights from your area(s) of expertise, and use appreciative inquiry to explore —and model how to explore— how other narratives might expose different, complementary ways of problem-solving,-minimization, or -prevention.

New cooperations, research concepts, and practices/pedagogies will emerge from the Labs, strengthening each of the individual narratives—and the combinations thereof.

PROFESSIONAL GROWTH & MORE

The IDD is premised on the proposition that we can improve our larger impact by understanding where there are (and are not) intersections among four key areas of study and practice in the differences field —intercultural communication, global learning, anti-discrimination/diversity & inclusion, and global competence — then borrowing from and expanding on them.

All experienced practitioners and scholars (and those who aspire advance to the field) are invited to join us for our in-person Developing Across Differences Learning Lab & Community Weeks or DADs.

Join us for 1, 2, 3-day courses — or all week — for professional development focused on both real world application and solid research, plus networking, community and discussion about topics relevant to you.
