A strategic yet practical approach to maximise D&I ROI
Nene Molefi
OVERVIEW

For over 30 years, the Global Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Benchmarks (GDEIB) have been considered the standards for organisations around the world wishing to ensure their Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) investment can be linked to sustainable outcomes benefitting all interest holders and the bottom line.
GDEIB Co-Author and expert practitioner Nene Molefi leads this 2-day course about how to use this strategic (free) method and tool to effect real, measurable D&I change within your organisation, sharing real workplace examples and lessons that you can apply in your context. Whether you are new to the GDEIB or already familiar with it, have operations in one location or spread across international or regional branches, are an in-house practitioner or an external consultant in the field … you will gain new insights and specific strategies to improve the organisation(s) you support.

This course is for practitioners seeking specific strategies, hands-on tools, and recommended do’s and don’ts for making D&I work more strategic, measurable, and sustainable.
Too often, an organisation’s D&I efforts remain fragmented or performative, overly people-focused, or disconnected from the overall business strategy and measurable outcomes. Misaligned roles, unchecked assumptions, and a lack of attention to early “warning signals” – including not identifying and nurturing key relationships, overlooking internal politics and power dynamics, or approaching stakeholders in ways that hinder collaboration rather than build it – can lead to stalled initiatives, resistance, or reduced impact and a sense of efforts wasted. When practitioners and leaders do not adequately prepare for a D&I strategy or intervention, it can result in a “false start” with initial hype that quickly fades. Once this happens, rebuilding trust and convincing the organisation to engage in D&I efforts again becomes increasingly more difficult.
The Global Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Benchmarks (GDEIB) offers a welcome alternative to this, using a systemic, and coordinated approach to strategic, demonstrable D&I work that links D&I to all areas of the organisation resulting in a comprehensive and sustainable strategy.
In this 2-day course, you will explore how to the GDEIB method and benchmarking tool as a practical roadmap for successful D&I strategy, governance, and implementation. Using real-world examples and case-based exercises, you will examine good practice examples that show how GDEIB-informed D&I work can contribute to organisational outcomes beyond people and culture metrics that prove the case for this work. You will also identify frequent pitfalls and how to detect and address them early.
In this course, you will learn how to:
- Clarify the roles, responsibilities, and boundaries of D&I practitioner leaders – whether as in-house specialist or external advisor.
- Use the (free) GDEIB method and tool as a strategic roadmap to connect D&I efforts to broader organisational proprieties and outcomes.
- Design GDEIB-informed DEI strategies, assessments, and action plans that are realistic, inclusive, and sustainable, and draw on good practice examples to articulate and evidence the return on investment (ROI) of D&I work.
- Identify frequent pitfalls and risk factors in projects using the GDEIB and detect early “warning signs” to mitigate risks before they undermine progress.
This workshop uses cognitive input and Interactive Learning to draw on participants’ own experiences and knowledge as well as real workplace examples and case-based exercises to learn what GDEIB-informed D&I work can look like and how it can succeed.
This course is for you if you are an internal or external DEI or HR officer /practitioner /advisor /consultant who:
- Leads or supports D&I strategies, initiatives, or governance structures,
- Advises leaders, HR, or project team on D&I-related decisions and priorities,
- Uses, or plans to use, a comprehensive approach to guide D&I work in your organisation(s).
