At the 2023 European Developing Across Differences Learning Lab & Community Week this July, the IDD invited special guest experts Veronika (Vroni) Hackl and Art Kleiner to discuss the role that multipliers who encourage the embrace of differences play vis-a-vis Artificial Intelligence as it becomes omnipresent.
Their insights are captured in this fascinating 45- minute video, with even more available in their new publications (see below).
“People — especially those in different countries, cultures and contexts — don’t agree [and] control for different priorities. How then can we expect AI to know whose interest to look out for?” (Powell & Kleiner, 2023). Furthermore, what role do we — as multipliers who encourage the embrace of differences — play in as Artificial Intelligence becomes omnipresent?
This is what we asked two leading AI experts: Veronika Hackl, who researches AI in classrooms, workplaces, and other everyday settings, and futurist Art Kleiner, whose latest book, co-authored with Juliette Powell, is The A.I. Dilemma: 7 Principles for Responsible Technology — and which we strongly urge you to add it to your 2023 “must read” list.

- Both Vroni and Art share suggestions about ways Differences professionals can help ensure that the diversity of the world is represented constructively in AI.
