MAI NGUYEN   Currently based in Australia but with deep ties to the Netherlands, Dr. Mai Nguyen is an expert and independent consultant widely known for bridging intercultural communication and neuroscience in organizational settings, and making these complex concepts accessible to practitioners in academic and corporate settings alike. Mai leads the  APPLYING NEUROSCIENCE course.

ANJANA SINGH  Modern historian Dr. Anjana Singh’s research focuses on the peoples of Eurasia through various lenses.  Her latest research is on global and local history on Dutch slavery and the slave trade, specifically the City of Groningen’s global connections to it. Anjana co-leads the POWER DYNAMICS & (IN)EQUITY course.

SARAH-LOUISE JONES is a professor at the University of Hull (UK) who is recognized as a leader in global competence research and practice. Her work includes extensive publications and grants focusing on integrating global competence into diverse educational settings — from schools to teacher education and across universities. She holds prominent positions in the Association of Teacher Education in Europe (ATEE) and the Education Futures Collaboration (EFC). Dr. Jones leads the GLOBAL COMPETENCE FRAMEWORKS course.

CHARLOTTE WEKKER is a trainer, coach, researcher, and advisor in the field of equal opportunities. She specializes in empowering marginalized groups and helping professionals in the field better appreciate the challenges that members of non-dominant groups encounter on a daily basis. Based in NL, Drs. Wekker is on faculty at the Hanze University and is a member of the University of Groningen’s external Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Board. Charlotte leads the ADDRESSING EVERYDAY RACISM course.

ANNELIE WAMBEEK is an independent trainer and consultant specialized in the intersection between the DEI and intercultural fields. With a background spanning communications, sociology, international relations, and finance across Europe and Asia, Annelie is an emerging leader in the field: she currently sits on the boards of SIETAR Europa and SIETAR Netherlands. Her focus is on inclusion and belonging within organizational settings. Annelie co-leads the USING THE POWER OF BELONGING course.

MICHAELA CARRIÈRE  In addition to being Intercultural Competence Section Head and Lead Trainer, Michaela Carrière manages the University of Groningen’s Office of Diversity. Building on past initiatives that support the intercultural learning within international student mobility programmes, she is currently developing a university-wide diversity and inclusion certification program. Michaela leads the EXPANDING THE REPERTOIRE (DEI + IC) course and co-leads the POWER DYNAMICS & (IN)EQUITY course.

MAJA NENADOVIĆ  A political education, formal debate coach and human rights trainer, Dr. Nenadović has worked for over 20 years with both those who use discriminatory and hate speech rhetoric—and those who are targeted by it—to create a field-tested methodology for defusing and redirecting inflammatory encounters. Maja leads the DEPOLARIZING DIALOGUE course.

ANNETTE GISEVIUS  is a master trainer, content designer, and certified coach who brings serious fun and interactive learning methods to intercultural competence development. With a focus is on cultural awareness, cultural conflict styles and experiential learning in non-classroom settings, Professor Gisevius has pioneered programmes on three continents and designs/runs intercultural trainer certificate courses. Annette leads the A-HA! ACTIVITIES (“JOLTS”) course.

STEPHAN RUPPERT is an experienced corporate professional who transitioned into the intercultural and cross-cultural field following a corporate career working across Europe and Asia. Dr. Ruppert’s deep interest in science and technology sparked his work to support fellow intercultural trainers and related practitioners better understand the complexities, opportunities and potential pitfalls that AI can bring to their work and how to incorporate it strategically and ethically. Stephan leads the GENERATIVE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE & YOU course.

JANA HOLLÁ  With an academic background in Cultural Anthropology and clients that span higher education institutions, corporate workplaces, and international NGOs, Dr. Jana Hollá’s interventions explore the nature of difference, knowledge and learning as a means of developing individuals, teams and organizations to build effective, meaningful working relations across cultures and differences. Jana leads the ADULT BULLYING & DIFFERENCES course.

MILTON BENNETT  Thanks to his four decades of seminal contributions —including the groundbreaking Developmental Model of Intercultural Sensitivity (DMIS)— intercultural development holds a core position within the greater Differences field. Dr. Bennett continues to innovate and has recently introduced a new instrument designed to assess and support organizational-level intercultural competence. Milton leads the AUTHORITARIANISM & THE SUPPRESSION OF INTERCULTURAL CONSCIOUSNESS and REVISITING THE RELATIONAL ROOTS OF INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION courses.

DIDEM EKICI has 20 years of teaching experience in Europe and North America, with research and practice areas including intercultural competence, global competence in higher education, online teaching/equity, peace-building, and teacher training. In addition to faculty appointments at three universities, she is on the leadership teams of Pax Populi and the World Council on Intercultural and Global Competence. Dr. Ekici leads the EDUCATING GLOBAL-READY GRADUATES course with Dr. Darla Deardorff (remote co-instructor).

HOSTS

NADINE BINDER Psychologist, lecturer, trainer, researcher and certified coach Dr. Nadine Binder specializes in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, intercultural communication and global leadership, personal leadership, and mental health awareness. In addition to co-organising the DAD as partner at the Institute for Developing Across Differences, Nadine co-leads the USING THE POWER OF BELONGING course.

MELISSA LILES is Founding Director of the Institute for Developing Across Differences (IDD). For over two decades, she has enjoyed working closely with those who help bridge differences – including education authorities, nonprofit and corporate practitioners, as well as trainers and academic experts – in 60+ countries. She leads the organisation of the annual European DAD.
